The Detroit Medical Center has signed a letter of intent that opens the door for it to be purchased by a private Nashville, Tenn.-based health system, Vanguard Health Systems. Vanguard has agreed to $500 million in specific projects, including $170 million for a new Children's Hospital tower, $75 million for a new cardiovascular institute and outpatient building, and improvements to several other facilities.
